PRESS RELEASE

CLARENCE — Congressman Chris Collins (NY-27) hosted his annual Service Academy Luncheon today, honoring the five appointed candidates and their families from New York’s 27th Congressional District.  An annual event, the Service Academy Luncheon is an opportunity for Congressman Collins to congratulate the appointed candidates and their familiars.  The luncheon also recognizes those that serve on the Congressman’s Academy Advisory Board whom conduct screening, interviews and ultimately make service academy recommendations.

“The strong qualities of leadership, integrity, and patriotism these young men and woman appointed today embody will serve them throughout their military service and their lives,” said Congressman Collins. “One of the most rewarding experiences serving in Congress is to see young people step forward and serve their country. It is a tremendous privilege to represent these candidates and the Western New York military community.”

“I would like to thank the eight members of my Service Academy Review Board for offering their time and guidance throughout this process to ensure the principles of our servicemen and women will be represented in the Class of 2023,” concluded Collins.

“The residents of the 27th District should be proud of these five exceptional young men and women who have been selected to attend these prestigious service academies,” said Ed Damico, Retired Air Force Major and a member of Collins’ Service Academy Review Board.  “I wish each of these outstanding students all the best as they begin their military careers and congratulate them as they join our nation’s finest to become the future leaders of our armed forces.”
