LOCKPORT — A pediatric dentist operating in Lockport was arrested and charged today by New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation with first-degree sexual abuse, second-degree sexual abuse and third-degree endangering the welfare of a child.

According to NYSP, Dr. Louis A. Surace, 57 had unwanted sexual contact with a child under the age of 17.  The conduct is to alleged to have occurred between 2008 and December 2018, involving a minor. According to authorities, there is no evidence of additional victims at this time.  Anyone with concerns should call the New York State Police at (585) 344-6200.


“Niagara County has a coordinated response to child abuse allegations.  A specially trained team, as well as a forensic interviewer, investigate complaints made to law enforcement and/or Child Protective Services.  Support services are provided to the child and supportive family members through the Child Advocacy Center,” explained Niagara County District Attorney. Dr. Surace was arraigned by Lockport Town Justice Honorable Cheryl A. Antkowiak and held on $20,000/$40,000 bail.
