The Amherst Police Department responded to a report of a threat made at Sweet Home Middle School at approximately 12:30 p.m. on Dec. 12.

Police personnel, working in conjunction with Sweet Home school administrators, immediately began an investigation into the incident. According to police, that investigation concluded with the arrest of a 13-year-old student on a charge of making a terroristic threat, a class D felony.
The youth was taken into custody and will be petitioned to Erie County Family Court, police said.
