SHELBY — A 41-year-old Michigan man was charged Tuesday with criminal possession of marijuana following a traffic stop on State Route 63.

According to New York State Police, at approximately noon, Troopers out of SP Albion observed a Dodge pickup truck with heavily tinted side windows in violation of the NYS V&T Law. Upon stopping the vehicle, William Q. Nowak of North Adams, Michigan was found to possess over 100 grams of marijuana, a large quantity of concentrated cannabis in the form of edible chocolate and edible candies made with concentrated cannabis all within his vehicle.  Nowak was charged with the misdemeanor of Criminal possession of marijuana in the 4th degree and the felony of Criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 5th degree.  Nowak was arraigned in the Town of Shelby Court and remanded to the Orleans County Jail in lieu of $25,000.00 bail pending further proceedings.
