UNIVERSITY AT BUFFALO ATHLETICS

BUFFALO, N.Y. — The ratings are in and the University at Buffalo football team was not only a winner on the field, but a ratings winner as well.  The Bulls’ 31-17 victory at Toledo on Saturday aired locally on WGRZ-TV and drew big ratings.

The game posted a 7.8 rating, with a peak of 11.3. That equates to 75,000 households watching the game. In addition, there were numerous watch parties at establishments around town. It was the highest-rated college football game on local television on Saturday. To put it into perspective, Purdue’s upset of Ohio State on Saturday night drew a 3.3 ratings share.

At 7-1, the Bulls are off to their best start since 1959. Buffalo sits atop the Mid-American Conference East Division with a 4-0 record and will host conference-foe Miami (OH) on Tuesday night in a battle for first place in the East Division. The game will air nationally on ESPN2 with kickoff slated at 8 pm.
