Congressman Brian Higgins (NY-26) announced the Congress on Your Corner schedule for the month of November. Through the program, staff from Congressman Higgins’ office are available at satellite sites throughout the district to better serve the needs of constituents.

The November schedule includes a special outreach event for veterans during which Congressman Higgins will present those who served during the Vietnam War period with commemorative pins.  Below is a complete listing of November Congress on Your Corner events:

The America Vietnam War Commemoration was authorized by Congress, established under the Secretary of Defense, and launched to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War. Congressman Higgins is a registered Commemorative Partner, committed to honoring Vietnam Veterans over the designated Anniversary period. The Commemoration honors all United States veterans who served on active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces at any time between November 1, 1955 to and May 15, 1975, regardless of location.

Veterans who served during that period and are interested in participating in the ceremony and receiving a Commemorative pin must RSVP to Walt Koch in Congressman Higgins office at 852-3501 or email walt.koch@mail.house.gov.

The Community Resource Hub events listed above include a number of community partners providing residents with information ranging from housing and healthcare to education and workforce development.

During Congress on Your Corner, residents have the opportunity to talk directly with someone from Congressman Higgins’ office about federal matters they may need assistance with.  Issues discussed often include: Social Security, veteran benefits, military service medals, passports, federal student aid or small business assistance.
