Construction on South Union Road began Sept. 26 with a northbound right lane closure. The lane closure goes through the intersection at Wehrle Drive and connects with the Picture Main Street project at the intersection of South Union and Wehrle.

The state Department of Transportation project includes a “road diet” for South Union, where the road will be reduced from two lanes in each direction to one lane in each direction. A center median lane will also be installed to allow for safer traffic flow when vehicles make left turns.

According to the DOT, the majority of the project is scheduled for completion by Nov. 1; however, some minor work will need to be completed in spring 2019.
