CANISIUS COLLEGE ATHLETICS
BUFFALO, N.Y. — Canisius women’s lacrosse head coach Allison Daley announces the addition of eight newcomers to the Golden Griffins roster for the 2018-19 season on Monday.
“We are excited to welcome eight young ladies to our Golden Griffin Family,” Daley said. “We are eager to continue building relationships with them and continuing to develop them both on and off the field. We believe they can make significant contributions, both athletically and academically.”
#0 Shannon Maroney | G | Rocky Point, N.Y. | Rocky Point
Prior to Canisius, Maroney was a four-time letterwinner at Rocky Point. As a senior, she made 140 saves to finish her career with 460 total saves. Maroney will major in health and wellness.
#2 Megan Hoffman | M | Canandaigua, N.Y. | Canandaigua Academy
Hoffman comes to Canisius from Canandaigua Academy where she played four years of lacrosse. As a Brave, Hoffman was named all-league first team, all-league second team, and 2017 Section V All-Tournament team. As a senior, Hoffman was team captain and named Most Valuable Midfielder by her team. She will study biochemistry while at Canisius.
#11 Alex Pound | A | Pittsford, N.Y | Pittsford Mendon
Pound comes to Canisius from Pittsford Mendon, where she was a three-time varsity letterwinner. During her time at Pittsford Mendon, Pound was a second team all-county selection and a senior all-star game participant. Pound will major in business.
#12 Katie Smolensky | A | Rochester, N.Y. | Brighton
Katie follows in the footsteps of her sister Lauren, who played for the Blue and Gold from 2015-17. Smolensky was named 2018 All-Greater Rochester Player of the Year while at Brighton, she was also twice named first team all-county, Section V All-Tournament and All-Greater Rochester. She will study health and wellness.
#18 Skylar McArthur | M| Peterborough, Ontario | Adam Scott CVI
McArthur joins the Golden Griffins from Canada, where she played two seasons with Team Ontario. The midfielder was also a member of Kawartha and was twice named team captain. McArthur will study health and wellness.
#22 Aldyn Savage | M/A | Palmyra, N.Y. | Palmyra-Macedon | Binghamton
Savage transfers to Main Street from Binghamton, where she played her freshman year. Prior to Binghamton, Savage was a four-time varsity letterwinner for lacrosse at Palmyra-Macedon. Savage was named 2017 US Lacrosse All-American, 2017 High School Athlete of the Year, 2016 & 2017 Finger Lakes Midfielder of the Year and first team all-league, three times. While at Canisius she will study digital media arts.
#25 Nicole Pahnke | A | Maple Ridge, British Columbia | Maple Ridge Secondary | University of Montevallo
The Canadian born attacker transfers to Canisius after spending her freshman season at Montevallo. As a freshman, she led the Falcons with 111 points on 78 goals and 33 assists. Pahnke was named Gulf South Conference Freshman of the Week on six occasions and was a GSC All-Tournament Team selection. She will major in health and wellness.
