Tis the season. For football that is. Anyone that knows me, knows I am a Buffalo Bills fan and enjoy the game. There is nothing better than seeing that Hail Mary pass caught or that tackle on the opposing player. I love it all.

Unless we are talking about football food and tailgating. The whole concept of tailgating is fantastic, a bunch of fanatics getting together to enjoy time together before the game, playing games, and walking around and seeing what everyone else is cooking. You can go as traditional as you want or as gourmet as you like. Personally I am a chicken wing girl or a hot dog person, those wonderfully crisp dogs that snap when you bite into them, or a saucy wing that drips as you eat it. A hot dog is a blank canvas that you add your own art to, while a chicken wing, the saucier the better.

With that being said here are a couple of ideas for you to try:

Monte Cristo Dog:
Dip bun in french toast batter and grill the bun, then add sliced ham, turkey, and swiss cheese to it while hot.

Reuben Dog:
A grilled hot dog, with hot chopped up cornbeef, sauerkraut, 1000 dressing, and swiss cheese.

Banh mi Dog:
A grilled hot dog with peanut satay sauce, pickled carrots, thinly sliced red chilis, cilantro, and crushed peanuts.

My favorite a grilled hot dog with ketchup and mustard.

Chicken Wings: OK whats your favorite? Mine are a medium wing sauce full of flavor with blue cheese on the side to dip them in. But some other good flavors are garlic Parmesan and a new one I like is lemon pepper.

Garlic Parmesan wing sauce recipe:
Deep fry your wings at 350 oil temperature 8-10 minutes until crispy and done and then toss them in the following sauce:

  • 1/2c butter melted,
  • 1/2c grated parmesean cheese
  • 1t garlic powder
  • 1/2t onion powder
  • 1/4t black pepper

Serve warm and enjoy

Lemon pepper wings:

  • 2# chicken wings
  • 2oz vegetable oil
  • 2oz butter, melted
  • 1T. lemon pepper seasoning

Toss chicken wings with oil and bake at 350 for 50 to 60 minutes until crispy, then toss into the melted butter with the lemon pepper seasoning added to it.

There are so many types of wings that you can do and so many different ways it is totally up to you, you can bake, them fry, or my new favorite new way is we air fry our wings now and I wont do them any other way now. I love that nice crispy wing with no grease, they are much healthier and just as good, love them. If you dont have an air fryer do some research you might want to invest in one as you can use it for so many different things, but that is an article for another day.

Bottom line football for my house is all about family time, having some great food, fun times, and routing for your favorite team, and in my case that is the Buffalo Bills,
