UNIVERSITY AT BUFFALO ATHLETICS

BUFFALO, N.Y. — With the NFL season kicking off this weekend, four former University at Buffalo football players find themselves on NFL rosters. Khalil Mack is in Chicago and Mason Schreck is in Cincinnati. In addition, Demone Harris is on Tampa Bay’s practice squad and Kristian Sokoli is on the injured reserve list for the Giants.
Mack made headlines in the offseason when he was traded from the Oakland Raiders to the Chicago Bears. The All-Pro defensive end immediately signed a contract extension to become the highest-paid defensive player in NFL history. Over his four-year career, Mack has been a three-time Pro Bowl selection and was the 2016 NFL Defensive Player of the Year.
Schreck is in his second season as a tight end with the Bengals after being drafted by the team in 2017. He has fully recovered from an injury that caused him to miss the entire 2017 campaign. Schreck has had a strong preseason with nine catches for 118 yards in three games.
Harris, a defensive end, earned a spot on the Buccaneers’ practice squad after the team signed him as an undrafted free agent in 2018.
Finally, Sokoli is in his second season with the New York Giants. However, after sustaining an injury in a recent preseason game, he was placed on injured reserve and will miss the entire season. Sokoli has also played for the Seahawks, Colts and Saints over his career.
