Progressive Death Metallers Metavoid are releasing their second EP “Heliosophist” on October 19th.  Their first EP ” Parasymmetry” was released in 2014.  Their Meshuggah influenced prog attack drew me in initially…..Ruben is an energetic vocalist that bellows over their unusual and inconsistent music.  There is some beautiful dissonance (I’m a sucker for dissonance) sprinkled on Heliosophist.

Metavoid released this statement about their upcoming release:

“Greetings Humans! We are proud to announce further details for HELIOSOPHIST, out 19/10/18:
It is a 5-Track concept piece about birth, life and death of our solar system and the sentient beings which emerged from it.

The tracklist:

01 – HELIOS I
02 – APHELION
03 – DECARBOXYLATION
04 – EMBRYOPHYTE
05 – HELIOS II

Heliosophist was written, recorded and produced by MetaVoid. The mastering was done by Simon Hawemann @ Sludge Studios (War From A Harlots Mouth, Nightmarer). It will be released as a 6-Page Digipack, first available at our show on 27/10/18 in Augsburg.”

Metavoid has a wide sound that is blistering and punishing.  They’re not a band that’s overly technical, they’re focused on rhythm and dissonance.  There’s cool guitar melodies placed by their guitaristists Philipp and Jan that further blend the sound of Metavoid.  Thomas further intensifies a very heavy band on the low end side of things.  It’s a great EP by the German prog death band that should be worth a listen at the very least.
