CANISIUS COLLEGE ATHLETICS
BUFFALO, N.Y. — Kristen Saviola and Kim Twait have joined the Canisius athletic training staff as assistant athletic trainers for the 2018-19 academic year.
“I am elated in having Kristen and Kim join our sports medicine team at Canisius,” director of sports medicine Andy Smith said. “Kristen re-joins her alma mater and brings a unique skill set while Kim joins us as one of the most highly-recommended candidates I have had in my tenure. Both have ‘hit the ground running’ and have made an immediate impact with our student-athletes.”
Saviola returns to Main Street after spending time at Catholic Health and UBMD Orthopedics & Sport Medicine since graduating from Canisius in 2012
During her career, Saviola has served as the Eden High School athletic trainer where she prevented, assessed and treated student-athletes from 48 varsity, junior varsity and modified sports teams.
Saviola has also worked for local colleges, high schools, club teams and community events such as the Jim Kelly Football Camp, where she has been an athletic trainer since 2013.
The Western New York native earned her bachelor degree in athletic training/sports medicine from Canisius in 2012 and her master’s degree in sport administration in May of 2016.
Twait joins the Golden Griffins athletic training staff after spending the 2017-18 academic year at the University of Virginia as a graduate assistant athletic trainer.
As a staff member at Virginia, Twait’s primary responsibilities included prevention, evaluation and rehabilitation of student-athletes on the Cavaliers swimming & diving teams.
Prior to Virginia, Twait was an athletic training student at Ithaca College where she assisted with the evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation of athletic injuries for Cornell University field hockey and football and Ithaca swimming & diving and track & field programs.
Twait earned her bachelor degree in athletic training from Ithaca in 2017 and her master’s degree in kinesiology – athletic training from Virginia in 2018.
