CANISIUS COLLEGE ATHLETICS
BUFFALO, N.Y. — The Canisius College women’s basketball team announced the non-conference portion of its 2018-19 schedule, highlighted by six home games, as well as a matchup against cross-town rival and Sweet 16 participant Buffalo.
The Golden Griffins will open their season Friday, Nov. 9 when they host Miami (Ohio). The matchup will mark the second year in a row that Canisius will play the Redhawks.
Canisius will play four of its first six games on the road, starting with a matchup against long-time rival St. Bonaventure on Tuesday, Nov. 13. The Griffs then return home Saturday, Nov. 17 to play the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, before hitting the road for a three-game swing. The game against UTRGV will be the front-end of a basketball doubleheader with the Canisius men’s team that day, with tipoff set for 1 p.m.
The road trip starts with a matchup against Colgate Wednesday, Nov. 21, then the Blue and Gold head to Oakland Nov. 25 and Albany Nov. 28.
The month of December starts with a three-game homestand against Youngstown State on the first of the month, cross-town rival Buffalo three days later on Tuesday, Dec. 4 and Bowling Green on Saturday, Dec. 8.
The Griffs play the Zips of Akron in their final road game of non-conference play Sunday, Dec. 16, before rounding out their non-conference schedule at home against Vermont Friday, Dec. 21.
