AMHERST, N.Y. — New York State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli has been flooded with phone requests and emails by Amherst’s citizens to investigate the Amherst IDA.

These e-mails informed the Comptroller of possible illegal tax breaks to certain developers which have come in front of the IDA seeking  a undeserving tax break.

Michele Marconi, who was a member of the ADA, resigned because she believed the Amherst IDA was not functioning the way it was intended. She strongly feels this group has given tax breaks to developers, who don’t qualify under the IDA rules.

Several neighborhood groups will be contracting the State Comptroller on this issue plus other serious infractions the Amherst IDA is involved in.
