UNIVERSITY AT BUFFALO ATHLETICS

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Highlighted by a home game against perennial powerhouse Stanford and a road battle against nationally-ranked Oregon, the University at Buffalo women’s basketball head coach Felisha Legette-Jack announced her teams tough non-conference slate on Wednesday afternoon.

The 11-game, non-conference slate features three home games inside Alumni Arena and four games against teams that advanced to the NCAA Tournament last season.
Coming off of their most successful season in school history, the Bulls will open up their 2018-19 campaign with an exhibition game at Alumni Arena on Thursday, November 1 as they welcome Bloomsburg for a 7:00 pm tip.
The regular season will open up for the Bulls on the road on Sunday, November 11 as they head to Maryland Eastern Shore for a matchup with the Hawks. UB was able to take down the Hawks last season inside Alumni Arena by the score of 76-41.
UB will welcome Big 4 rival Niagara to Alumni Arena for their regular season home opener on Wednesday, November 14 at 7:00 pm. Buffalo will be looking for some revenge on the Purple Eagles as Niagara stunned the Bulls at the Gallagher Center last season.
After they welcome Niagara, UB will be on the road for over a month as they kick off their seven-game road swing with a huge showdown against nationally-ranked Oregon in Eugene on Sunday, November 18. The Ducks were able to advance to the Elite 8 last season after posting a 33-5 overall record. The Bulls will be faced with a tall task on the road as Oregon returns their top four scorers to a potent offense that averaged 82.4 points/game a season ago. The Ducks feature two of the top players in the country as AP First Team All-American Sabrina Ionescu returns for her junior campaign after posting 19.7 points, 7.8 assists and 6.7 rebounds. Fellow junior and AP Honorable Mention All-American Ruthy Hebard went for 17.6 points and 9.0 rebounds while shooting 66.0% from the floor on the year.
After the tough road matchup with the Ducks, the Bulls will head to Sin City for the South Point Thanksgiving Shootout. The two-game tournament in Las Vegas will begin on Friday, November 23 as UB will take on Big East member Georgetown. The following day, the Bulls will wrap up their tournament with a tough game against South Dakota State who earned a trip to the NCAA Tournament last season after winning the Summit League Championship, their eighth conference championship in the past 10 seasons.
The Bulls will open up the month of December with three games within the first week as they will travel to Central Connecticut State to take on the Blue Devils on Saturday, December 1. UB will then return to the road four days later as they head to Buffalo to take on Big 4 foe Canisius inside the Koessler Athletic Center on Tuesday, December 4 at 7:00 pm. Buffalo will then end the week with another NCAA Tournament qualifier from last season as they will head to Ohio to take on the Dayton Flyers on Friday, December 7. Dayton closed out last season with a 23-7 overall record and earned an at-large bid to the tournament before falling to No. 8 Marquette in the opening round.
The long road trip will conclude on Thursday, December 18 as the Bulls will travel to New Hampshire to take on the Dartmouth Big Green.
Buffalo will finally return home for their final two games of their non-conference slate beginning on December, 21 as they welcome perennial powerhouse Stanford to Alumni Arena for a showdown of Sweet 16 teams from a season ago. The Cardinals are led by Tara VanDerveer, one of the top coaches in the history of college women’s basketball, who is a western New York native.
The Bulls will conclude the non-conference portion of their schedule on Sunday, December 23 as they welcome Big 4 foe St. Bonaventure to Alumni Arena for a showdown. The Bulls were able to cruise to a 17-point victory, 76-59, on the road in Olean last season against the Bonnies.
