ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Rochester Red Wings beat the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders 6-2 Wednesday night at Frontier Field. The series and homestand wraps up with a 12:35 p.m. game Thursday afternoon. 
 Rochester got on the board in the bottom of the second, as Jon Kemmer ignited a spark with a two-out double off of Scranton starter Erick Swanson. The following batter, Jordan Pacheco, brought him in with an RBI single to give the Red Wings a 1-0 lead.
The RailRiders retaliated in the third inning after Wilkin Castillo drove in two runs off Red Wings starting pitcher Zack Littell on an RBI single, giving Scranton a 2-1 advantage.
In the fourth, Willians Astudillo and LaMonte Wade each got on base safely with consecutive hits, while Kennys Vargas reached on a walk. With the bases loaded, Kemmer knocked in all three baserunners on an RBI triple, putting the Red Wings ahead 4-2. With two outs, Taylor Motter hit an RBI double, scoring Kemmer and extending the lead to 5-2.
Rochester added to their lead in the fifth after Tyler Austin led the inning off with a 421-foot home run. The solo shot was Austin’s second home run in two days with the Red Wings.
Swanson went 4.1 innings before being relieved, allowing six runs on eight hits while striking out four and allowing one walk. He threw 86 pitches, 58 for strikes.
After six innings, Littell allowed two runs on five hits while striking out three and allowing two walks. He threw 97 pitches, 60 for strikes. In relief, the Red Wings called upon Ryne Harper.
Harper worked two innings, allowing no hits and striking out four. Alan Busenitz worked a perfect ninth inning for the Wings. .
The Red Wings out-hit the RailRiders 11-5. Kemmer had two hits, three RBI and scored two runs.
