ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Norfolk Tides beat the Rochester Red Wings 7-2 Friday night at Frontier Field. 
The Tides struck first in the top of the second inning after a solo home run by Mike Yastrzemski, against Red Wings starting pitcher Ervin Santana, making the score 1-0. Santana is on an MLB rehab assignment.
Tides starting pitcher Lucas Long was replaced in the bottom of the fourth inning by Luis Gonzalez. Long finished his day with 3.0 innings thrown, allowed one hit, one walk and had three strikeouts. Long threw 41 pitches, 25 for strikes.
The Red Wings tied the game in the bottom of the fifth after a solo home run by Edgar Corcino, making the score 1-1. It was Corcino’s second homer for the Wings.
Santana was replaced by Luke Bard in the top of the seventh inning. Santana finished his outing with 6.0 innings thrown, allowed two hits, one earned run, three walks and had one strikeout. Santana threw 66 pitches, 46 for strikes.
The Tides regained the lead in the top of the seventh after an RBI double from Yastrzemski making the score 2-1. Ruben Tejada hit an RBI single, making the score 3-1. A sacrifice fly and a two-RBI single made the score 6-1. Bard was replaced by Jake Reed with two outs in the seventh and worked out of the jam to end the inning. Bard finished with 0.2 innings thrown, allowed four hits, five earned runs, one walk and had one strikeout.
The Red Wings shortened the deficit in the bottom of the eighth inning after an RBI double by Juan Graterol that scored Andy Wilkins, making the score 6-2.
The Tides added to their lead in the top of the ninth after an RBI single by Cedric Mullins, making the score 7-2.
The Tides out-hit the Red Wings 9-8.
