Keaton DePriest, the newly hired full time employee in the Village of Williamsville, will be earning $50,000, which is almost a $30,000 increase in pay from when he worked for the Amherst Bee for 13 years. Mr. DePriest’s title is, Director of Strategic Planning, of which he has no knowledge of whatsoever.

I hadn’t heard anything about this opening. The Village said they didn’t post any notice for this job. There was no need to hire anyone for this position. They interviewed 5 or 6 people.

I have been a strong opponent of patronage jobs. It hurts Amherst in several ways. Could it be possible that the owner of the Amherst Bee put pressure on Village Board members to hire this gentleman?

When will patronage jobs stop?
