SYRACUSE, N.Y. — The Herd was defeated by the Chiefs, 8-3, from NBT Bank Stadium Saturday night. A five-run fourth inning by Syracuse was too much of a deficit for the Bisons to overcome.

The Chiefs snatched the lead in the fourth after the Bisons held an early 3-1 edge. Syracuse recorded five hits in the frame and had a total of 14 hits in the game.

Moises Sierra doubled for a base knock and an RBI-single from Yadiel Hernandez tied the game. Then, Chris Dominguez connected for an extra-base hit to give the Chiefs the lead.

Syracuse tacked on two more runs in the inning on a sacrifice fly by Bengie Gonzalez and when Andrew Stevenson reached base on a fielder’s choice. Lourdes Gurriel Jr. fielded the grounder and threw home on the play, but Dominguez arrived safely at the plate.

The Chiefs added to the lead with one run in the fifth and a run in the eighth to push the score to 8-3.

Before the Chiefs stole the lead, the Bisons led the game, 3-1, thanks to a two-run home run from Reese McGuire and a solo shot from Gift Ngoepe.

The Bisons had two runners aboard in their last at-bat in the ninth on singles from Tim Lopes and Ngoepe but Buffalo did not score in the inning.
