Witherspoon on Henderson: “We are happy to welcome Jordan as the newest member of our men’s basketball program. Jordan is a young man who reclassified and spent a year at Indiana Elite Prep. Indiana Elite plays a challenging schedule, and he played in 48 of their games, so Jordan is bringing a lot of quality game experience with him. We are excited for this young man to bring his basketball talent and his work ethic in the classroom to our team.”

Witherspoon also announced Friday that Mervin James, who signed his National Letter of Intent to join the Canisius program during last November’s early signing period, has chosen to reclassify to the Class of 2019.

“Mervin has chosen to reclassify and go to prep school next season in an effort to get himself another year of experience before starting college,” Witherspoon said. “Mervin is young for his class. We have spoken, and he has spoken with his family, and we believe this extra year will help make his transition to college in both an athletic and academic sense a smooth one.”

Canisius is coming off a year that saw the team post a 21-12 overall record and a 15-3 mark in MAAC play en route to a share of the 2017-18 MAAC regular season championship, the program’s first since 1993-94.
