A 24 year old Ontario man and a 24 year old Palmyra woman were charged with multiple crimes on June 3, 2018 after a routine traffic stop in the Town of Darien.

Driver Michael V. Mathews’ charges include driving while intoxicated, obstruction of governmental administration 2nd degree, resisting arrest, and numerous traffic tickets. Troopers also arrested passenger Hannah Schreiber for obstruction of governmental administration 2nd degree, and disorderly conduct.

Troopers located and stopped Mathews in the Darien Lake parking lot on State Route 77 in the town of Darien. While speaking to Mathews, the operator, Troopers detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage.  Mathews and Schreiber, the passenger,  became uncooperative, did not comply with verbal commands and physically resisted the Troopers. Mathews and Schreiber were arrested and transported to SP Batavia for processing.  Mathews refused a chemical test and was arraigned in the town of Darien Court and remanded to the Genesee County Jail on $500 cash $1,000 bond.

He is to return to the town of Darien Court in June 2018. Schreiber was processed and issued an appearance ticket to the town of Darien Court for June 2018.
