BUFFALO, N.Y. — Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Randal Grichuk has joined the Bisons on an MLB injury rehab assignment. The slugger is scheduled to bat third and play right field for the Bisons’ on Wednesday night against the Columbus Clippers at Coca-Cola Field (6:05 p.m.).
Grichuk, 26, appeared in 25 games with the Blue Jays before going on the disabled list with a right knee sprain. In 66 at-bats, he is hit .106 with two home runs and seven RBI at the major league level. Prior to joining the Bisons on his rehab assignment, he played in three games with the Single-A Advanced Dunedin Blue Jays and in two games with the Double-A New Hampshire Fisher Cats. In those games he had a combined three hits including one home run.
Grichuk is a former first-round draft pick and was acquired by the Blue Jays via a trade with the St. Louis Cardinals in January. In 2017, he hit .238 with 22 home runs and 59 RBI with the Cardinals.
