Wynston Sawyer hit his first Triple-A home run and first professional grand slam all with one swing and the Rochester Red Wings rallied to beat the Buffalo Bisons 7-3 Monday night at Coca-Cola Field.
The Red Wings (13-13) had five hits through six scoreless innings against Bisons (11-11) starter Sam Gaviglio. Buffalo scored a run in the 4th and 5th to take a 2-0 lead against Rochester starter Myles Jaye (1-2).
Gaviglio was relieved by Taylor Guerrieri (0-1). A groundout started the 7th but two straight hit batters and a single loaded the bases for Sawyer with one out. His blast came with one out in the 7th inning with the Red Wings (13-13) trailing 2-0. Leonardo Reginatto tripled home a run later in the frame to make it 5-2.
Brock Stassi doubled and scored on a Taylor Featherston single in the 8th to make it 6-3.
The Bisons would not go quietly as they scored a run against Gabriel Moya and loaded the bases against the Wings reliever with two outs in the 8th inning but Reese McGuire struck out to end the threat.
Jimmy Kerrigan capped the scoring at 7-3 with his first Triple-A home run, an opposite field solo shot to right in the 9th.
Rochester recorded a season-high 14 hits in the comeback victory, nine of those came over the final three frames. Six players had multi-hit games.
