The National Weather Service calls for partly sunny skies today with a high near 77. Breezy, with a southwest wind 16 to 25 mph, with gusts as high as 46 mph. Tonight offers showers and thunderstorms likely with a low around 58.

The windy weather combined with low humidity has caused the weather service to issue a “red flag warning” — indicating dangerous fire weather conditions — from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. throughout all of Western New York. “The potential exists for rapid development and spread of wild fires … or for prescribed burns to get out of control. Outdoor burning is not recommended.”

A New York State Burn Ban prohibits outdoor open burning between March 16 and May 14.
