BUFFALO STATE ATHLETICS

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Buffalo State football will play host to the second annual “Flag Football Showdown” for the Best Buddies’ Buffalo State Chapter on Sunday at Coyer Field starting at 2 p.m.

The mission of Best Buddies Colleges is to provide an opportunity for college students to be matched in a one-to-one friendship with individuals who have intellectual disabilities. College chapters are active on 298 campuses worldwide. Each chapter is a registered student organization on their college campus.

The mission of the event is to increase inclusion.  “The Showdown” will feature members of Best Buddies, college students (Peer Buddies) and individuals with disabilities. Assistant football coach and offensive coordinator Christian Ozolins will serve as the game’s referee and other coaches and players helped coach the two teams that were wearing orange and black shirts.

Spectators can attend the event free of charge, but donations will be accepted at the gate to benefit the Buffalo State Best Buddies Chapter.  The event will also feature a special halftime performance by Buffalo Envy.
