BUFFALO, N.Y. — The Canisius rowing program continues its 2018 spring season on Saturday, as the Griffs participated in the Jim Schaab Regatta on the Tonawanda Creek. The Regatta was originally scheduled for the Black Rock Canal, but was moved to the Tonawanda due to a build-up of ice in the canal.
 
Due to the change of race venue, official times were unable to be taken, only placement. The progression was first from each heat moved on to the finals.

The Griffs’ first varsity eight consisting of Misa GambleMax McGuireSydney BichselBrooke StanleyTara FederowShannon PritzkerJessica FabianEmma Vicaretti and Alexandra Heinz were second in their heat to RIT ‘A’ in a good, close race, but didn’t advance, finishing ahead of Oswego.

The Golden Griffins second varsity eight made-up of Grace HornerMackenzie AppBridget LillisCat Gallagher,Audrey RiemanMadeline KurkaPatricia BeaulieuMichelle Turner and Melissa Frank won their heat over Binghamton and an unaffiliated crew. In the finals, the boat finished third to RIT ‘A’ and RIT ‘B.’
 
The Blue and Gold’s varsity four comprised of Gianna OrtolaniAndrea KraftAnezka KrobotBridget Brogan andSara Ruszczyk won their heat over Nazareth and St. John Fisher. In the finals, the boat won over Buffalo and Oswego.
 
Coach Brace’s Post Regatta Comments
“After a full week off the water due to weather, this race provided us a great opportunity to improve upon our Kerr Cup results. We look forward to building off what we learned today and taking that into this week of training as we prepare to host Drake, Robert Morris and RIT on Sunday.”

Canisius hosts its lone home regatta, the Black Rock Cup, on Sunday, April 29 at the West Side Rowing Club in Buffalo, N.Y. The regatta kicks-off at 9 a.m.
