BROCKPORT — Brockport jumped out to an early lead and cruised to an 18-8 victory over visiting Buffalo State today in a SUNYAC contest.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Nina Schaefer (Lafayette/Lafayette) led the Bengals with three goals and added an assist.
  • Morgan Hogue (Painted Post/Corning) chipped in two goals and two assists.
  • Kendall Skuse (Churchville/Churchville-Chili) had two goals and an assist to go with 10 draw controls.
  • Ally Ruggieri (Brockport/Brockport) also scored for Buffalo State.
  • Brockport raced out to a 6-0 lead less than six minutes into the game.
  • Buffalo State trailed 10-4 at halftime and closed the deficit to five on two occasions early in the second half, but could not come any closer.
  • The Golden Eagles used a 5-0 run later in the half to pull away before the Bengals completed the scoring with less than four minutes remaining.
  • Elyse Stark (Lido Beach/Long Beach) finished with a season-best 18 saves in goal as Brockport outshot the Bengals 41-20.
  • The Golden Eagles also had a 21-11 advantage in ground balls and won the turnover battle, 25-15.

 
FOR THE FOES

  • Heather Conklin led Brockport with five goals and an assist, and Sara Grapevine added three goals and three assists.
