POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. — After winning four straight games, the Niagara baseball team’s win streak was snapped with a narrow 9-7 loss to Marist on Friday.

Game Recap
- The Purple Eagles got on the board in the top of the first after Michael Gabriele scored on a throw to give NU a 1-0 lead over the Red Foxes.
- Niagara extended its lead in the top of the second inning. Gabriele reached base on an error by Marist’s third baseman and Wyatt Olson scored. Julian Gallup then reached base on an error, which also sent Gabriele and Tevlin home. A double from Greg Cullen scored Gallup to put the Purple Eagles up, 5-0.
- Marist scored twice in the bottom of the fourth inning, but NU answered in the top of the fifth. McCauley hit a two-run homerun to give the Purple Eagles a 7-2 lead.
- Marist, however, began to pick up some offensive momentum in the bottom of the fifth inning and two homeruns from the Red Foxes in the fifth and another in the seventh earned them the 9-7 victory.
Inside the Numbers
- Tevlin led the Purple Eagles with two hits and McCauley had a team-high two RBIs.
- Peter Battaglia and Cullen each had one double.
- Tyler Howard (2-2) took the loss on the mound. He fanned two and allowed three earned runs in 2.1 innings pitched.
