CANISIUS COLLEGE ATHLETICS


The Canisius baseball program will be back on the road as the squad travels to New Rochelle, N.Y., to face Iona in a three-game conference series, Apr. 14-15. Game times are noon and 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, and noon on Sunday.

GETTING STARTED
• With his four hits on Wednesday, senior Liam Wilson has reached base in all 28 games this season and 30 times in his last 31 games dating back to last year.
• Wilson’s streak also includes an on-going 12 game hitting streak.
• Wilson’s five-RBI output makes him the third Griff to tally five RBI in a game this season (redshirt senior Christ Conley and senior Ryan Stekl).
• Wilson’s four hits makes him the second Griff this year to record four base hits (junior Mark McKenna).
• Conley’s on-base streak now stands at 18 straight games with his two hits on Wednesday.
• Conley also extends his consecutive game hitting streak to 10 games.
 
A LOOK BACK AT LAST GAME
• The Griffs fell to Kent State in a mid-week slugfest Wednesday, 13-11.
• A team, Canisius pounded out 13 hits, including three home runs and one triple.
• In the game, Wilson led the charge with four hits in six at-bats, two of which were home runs, totaling five RBI and two runs scored.  
• Freshman Jacob Martins also had contribution as he tallied three hits in five at-bats, with one run scored.

ABOUT THE GAELS
• Iona is 8-20 on the year, holding a 1-2 record at home.
• The Gaels dropped their first four games to open the 2018 campaign and are currently in the midst of another four-game slide. Most recently the team was tripped up in mid-week contests by Stony Brook and St. John’s April 10-11, 5-2 and 5-1, respectively.  
• The teams’ offense has been led by senior Sean Scales, who is producing a .378 batting average with 37 hits in 98 at-bats to go along with 15 RBI and 14 runs scored.   
• Redshirt senior Tyler Bruno and senior Lou Matarazzo also provide an offensive punch batting .264 and .255, respectively.  

UP NEXT
The Griffs return back to the Buffalo to begin a five-game home stand at the Demske Sports Complex. First up is “Battle of the Bridge” rival Niagara on April. 17 for a single-game. First pitch is set for 3:00 p.m.
