FALCONER — A 29-year-old Cattagaurus woman was charged Monday with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and endangering the welfare of a child.

According to New York State Police, Troopers observed the suspect vehicle described in an unauthorized use of a vehicle complaint reported by the Cattaraugus County Sheriff Department parked outside of a building in Falconer. Ashley Johnson was at the wheel with a young child inside the vehicle. Johnson was taken into custody and while being searched prior to transport, three hypodermic needles with heroin residue and a tin containing heroin were located inside Johnson’s purse. Under the seat where the child was sitting was a plastic container with heroin residue. Johnson was processed at SP Jamestown, arraigned in the town of Ellery Court and remanded to the Chautauqua County Jail. The child was turned over to a family member.
