 LAST TIME OUT

• Monmouth scored three-straight goals with under 10 minutes left in regulation, as the Hawks defeated Canisius women’s lacrosse, 14-12 at the Demske Sports Complex on Sunday. The win snaps the Golden Griffins’ regular-season conference win-streak, which spanned 27 games.

• Canisius dug itself out of an early 4-1 deficit, scoring five of the remaining seven goals in the frame, as the two teams headed to halftime tied 6-6. 

• It appeared the Griffs were within striking distance, as Jen Reininger cut the Monmouth advantage to 11-0, However the Hawks reeled off three-straight goals, as Caroline Corbliss tallied her 20th of the season with 9:14 remaining, and Allison Turturro and Cloe Novak, followed suit.

• Reininger and Jourdan Roemer notched late tallies in the final five minutes, but the team was unable to finish the comeback bid.

• Canisius got offense production from the usual suspects as Reininger tallied four goals and two assists for six points, while Roemer notched five goals. 

• Allie Stewart and Rachel Ryan also scored markers, with two and one, respectively.

• For the Hawks, offense was spread around the lineup with Jenny Staines pacing the team with four points (one goal and three assists). Corbliss was one of three players to score three goals each, as Novak and Alexa Smith, joining her.

 • Rebecca VanLaeken got the start once again for Canisius, as she made 10 saves and allowed 14 goals, and dropped to 6-6. Riley Brager got he win allowing 12 goals and making nine saves.

• Monmouth managed to outgun the Griffs, tallying 31 shots to Canisius’ 26. The Hawks edged Canisius in draw controls with a 15-13 mark, while the Blue and Gold tallied 20 ground balls and Monmouth recorded 16. 

SCOUTING CANISIUS
• The Golden Griffins continue their MAAC season on Wednesday, as the team hosts the Marist Red Foxes at the Demske Sports Complex. Game time is set for 4 p.m. 

• Canisius enters the game with a 6-6 overall record and a 3-1 conference mark. 

• The Blue and Gold had its regular season MAAC win streak snapped at 27 games, as Monmouth dealt the Griffs a 14-12 loss on Sunday. 

• While The month of March was a  good one for the Griffs as the team went 5-2, Canisius opened up April with a loss. 

• Canisius has been led offensively by Jourdan Roemer, who comes into the contest with 51 points (35 goals and 16 assists). 

• Roemer’s 51 points is ranked first in the conference, averaging 4.25 points per contest through 12 games. 

• Not far behind is Jen Reininger who has tallied 33 goals and eight assists for 41 points. 

• The Blue and Gold has also received goal scoring from Allie Stewart (15 goals), Lauren Smolenksy (seven goals and nine assists) and Bryar Cummings (10 goals and one assist) 

• Marissa Malvaso and Miranda Malvaso have continued to get stronger with each game, as the freshmen have been strong complimentary pieces in their first year.

• Marissa Malvaso has tallied 10 goals and two assists, while Miranda Malvaso has tallied three goals. 

• Reininger, aside from goal scoring, has been all over the stat sheet, leading the team in ground balls with 48, draw controls with 67 and caused turnovers with 21.

• Reininger is ranked fourth in the nation in ground balls with a 4.00 average. 

• Rebecca VanLaeken has been one of the nation’s best goaltenders, ranking second in the country in saves per game with a 11.92 mark. She has a 6-6 record this season with a 11.88 goals against average and a .500 save percentage. 

SCOUTING MARIST
• The Red Foxes visit the Demske Sports Complex with a 7-4 overall record and is the only remaining undefeated team in the MAAC, boasting a 3-0 mark

• Marist is on a three-game winning streak having downed Monmouth (14-3), Manhattan (19-3) and Quinnipiac (8-7). 

• Morgan Jaycox is the team’s offensive leader, having posted 41 points so far this season. She has tallied 19 goals and 23 assists.

• Samantha Mahalick is the MAAC’s leader in goals with 36, while Hailey Wagner has 34 points with 17 goals and 17 assists.

• Wagner is not only an offensive threat but one of the nation’s best when it comes to draw controls. The Marist standout is currently ranked second in the country in draw controls per game, averaging 9.09 per contest, and having tallied 101 total so far in 2018. 

• Aside from some strong offensive producers the Red Foxes boast a strong backstop, as freshman Delaney Galvin is ranked seventh in the country in save percentage (.537), and 5th in saves per game (11.27). 

• Galvin has made 11 starts and boasts a 10.11 goals against average and a .545 save percentage. 

• Marist also has four players that have tallied 20-or-more ground balls with Annie Sheehy and Mehalick pacing the team with 21 apiece.

SERIES HISTORY VS. MARIST
• Wednesday will be the 28th meeting between the two squads, as Marist holds a 16-11 advantage over the Blue and Gold.

• It was a slow start in the series history for Canisius, as the team dropped the first eight games and didn’t record its first win over Marist until 2006.

• However Canisius has won the last five meetings, including MAAC tournament games in 2014 and 2015.

• The Blue and Gold holds a 4-3 advantage over Marist in postseason play and has kept it close when playing at the Demske Sports Complex, with a 4-5 mark. 

• Marist however has its greatest advantage when playing in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., as the Red Foxes have a 8-3 record against Canisius at home.

STEWART REACHES 100 CAREER POINTS
• Senior Allie Stewart is looking down the barrel of her final season as a member of the Blue and Gold but managed to reach a historic milestone. 

• With her two goals against the Monmouth Hawks, Stewart reached 100 career points as a member of the Griffs.

• Stewart has now scored 79 goals and 21 assists.

• This season she has tallied 15 goals ranking third on the team. 

• Her best season came in 2016, when she tallied 47 points. (33 goals and 14 assists).
