BUFFALO, N.Y. — Senior Jen Reininger of the Canisius women’s lacrosse team was honored by the conference on Monday, earning Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week accolades, as voted on by the league sports information directors. Reininger posted eight points including seven goals and one assist during the Golden Griffin’s two game stretch.
 
Reininger was a model of consistency for the Blue and Gold, posting four points against then No. 7 Virginia and Iona. In the loss against the Cavaliers on Wednesday, Reininger posted three goals and one assist, while she totaled four against the Gaels on Friday.
 
The highlight of her weekend came in the team’s final matchup, as she scored the game-winning tally against Iona, helping Canisius improve to 2-0 in conference action.
 
Aside from her offensive prowess, the midfielder proved to be key in giving the Griffs critical possessions, as she led the team in draw controls in both contests, tallying 23 total. She set a new career-best against the Gaels, posting 12.
 
She also added nine ground balls and five caused turnovers to round out her stat line.
 
Reininger is ranked fourth in the conference in goals with 29 and is ranked third in the nation in ground balls per game with a 4.10 mark.
 
Canisius continues its conference slate on Wednesday when it travels to Siena in Loudonville, N.Y. Game time is set for 4 p.m. Canisius then hosts Monmouth on Sunday at the Demske Sports Complex. Game time for the home conference matchup is set for 11 a.m.
