BUFFALO, N.Y. — University at Buffalo men’s basketball junior CJ Massinburg has been named to the Lou Henson All-America Team, it was announced late Wednesday. The Lou Henson Award is presented annually to the nation’s top Division I mid-major player. 
Massinburg led the Bulls in scoring and rebounding this season, as he is averaged 17.0 points and 7.3 rebounds per game. Massinburg was named to the All-MAC First Team as he has scored 20 or more points in 13 games this year and leads the Bulls with nine double-doubles.  Massinburg was also named the MAC East Player of the Week three times, tied for the most in the league with teammate Jeremy Harris.  This season, Massinburg joined the 1,000-point club becoming the seventh fastest in school history to do so.  He is one of just three juniors in the entire nation with 1,300 career points, 500 career rebounds, and 200 career assists. Massinburg had one of his biggest games this year against one of UB’s toughest opponents in nationally ranked Cincinnati, where he finished with 29 points and 10 rebounds.  Massinburg had 30 points a career-best 14 rebounds in a win over Delaware.  He scored 27 points in Buffalo’s MAC-opening win against Toledo and put up 26-point performances against Western Michigan and Akron.
Massinburg helped lead the Bulls to their third MAC Title in four years and a trip to the NCAA Tournament where UB upset PAC-12 Champions Arizona, 89-68.  He tied the school record for points in a season with 611 and he will enter his senior season in the top 10 in school history in career points with 1,354.
Lou Henson coached 41 years. When he left the game in 2005 he was sixth all-time in career Division I wins with 779. He is the winningest coach at both Illinois and New Mexico State. He is one of only 12 coaches in the history of the game to take two schools to the Final Four.

The 2017-18 Lou Henson National Player of the Year Award will be announced on April 2 in San Antonio, site of the men’s NCAA Basketball Championship.
