NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. — The Niagara University women’s lacrosse team closes out its 2018 non-conference schedule on Tuesday, March 27 against the Rutgers Scarlet Knights. Opening draw is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. and the game will be streamed live on BTN2Go.
Last Time Out
- Niagara defeated the Iona Gaels to open up MAAC play on March 24, earning a 13-12 victory at Niagara Field. The Purple Eagles have won three of their last four matchups against the Gaels dating back to the 2015 season.
- Rachel MacCheyne and Alexis Morales led the Purple Eagles with three goals apiece, while Shea Swartwout and Samantha Brill also recorded two goals each.
- Aubrey DeVeau earned the win in the cage for Niagara, making six saves.

- MacCheyne leads the team in goals (29), points (37), shots (66) and draw controls (55). She also is tied for the team lead in assists with eight. MacCheyne is second in the MAAC in goals, points, and shots per game.
- Caroline Crump also has eight assists for Niagara and has recorded 21 goals and 29 total points this season.
- Lauren Paul leads the team with 30 ground balls this season and ranks 23rd in the NCAA with 3.33 ground balls per game.
- Niagara leads the MAAC and ranks 17th in the nation in ground balls per game, averaging 21.33.
- Olivia Schroeder (2-1) has logged over 310 minutes in net this season and has made 51 saves.
On the Field: Rutgers Scarlet Knights (4-6, 0-2 MAAC)
- The Scarlet Knights have dropped their last four matches, including a pair of conference losses to Big Ten foes Penn State and Ohio State.
- Sophomore midfielder Samantha Budd leads the team in goals (20), shots (37) and shots on goal (52), while currently second on the team in points (24). Defender Regina Sharp leads the team in ground balls with 22.
- One of the team’s three captains this season, attacker Kerri Puckhaber has a team-best 27 points for Rutgers and is second on the team in goals with 19.
- The teams met for the first time last season on March 28, 2017, with Rutgers defeating Niagara at High Point Solutions Stadium, 18-8.
