CANISIUS COLLEGE ATHLETICS

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Canisius senior midfielder Steven Coss has been named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference’s Offensive Player of the Week for men’s lacrosse, league officials announced on Monday.

A native of Canton, Ohio, Coss tallied four goals and six assists in leading the Golden Griffins to a split of its two games against Capital District opponents last week.

Coss began the week with two goals and two assists in a midweek matchup at No. 1 Albany. He followed that performance with a career-high six points in a 13-12 victory over Siena in the Griffs’ MAAC opener on Saturday.

Coss dished out a personal-best four assists in the contest against the Saints, including the helper on senior Ryan McKee‘s game-winning goal with a little more than two minutes remaining in the fourth quarter.

Canisius (4-3) returns home Tuesday to host longtime rival Hobart in a 7 p.m. contest at the Demske Sports Complex.
