ARCADE — A 32-year-old Chaffee woman was charged this afternoon with driving while intoxicated with a child in the car — a Leandra’s Law violation — as well as endangering the welfare of a child and criminal possession of a controlled substance.
According to New York State Police, at approximately 12:59 p.m. Troopers stopped Heather Gearman with her 5-month-old daughter on Liberty Street for speeding and crossing over the center line multiple times. Gearman was placed under arrest after failing SFST’s. Search of Gearman’s vehicle resulting in locating multiple amphetamin/dextroamphetamine dosage units. Gearman was transported to SP Machias for processing. Gearman provided a urine sample.
Gearman was issued tickets returnable in March 2018 for the Village of Arcade.
