AMHERST — Town Clerk Marjory Jaeger is reminding Amherst residents that town and county taxes are due on or before Thursday, Feb. 15.
As a way to assist taxpayers, Jaeger said there are alternative methods and extended hours for collection.

“There are several options to pay town and county taxes: by mail, in person, online and at select M&T Bank branches,” Jaeger said.

Full payments can be made by check or money order at participating M&T locations. Taxpayers should check the back of their bills for a list of the area branches.

Online payment, where service fees apply, can be made by e-check, credit and debit cards at www.amherst.ny.us.

In person, the Town Clerk’s Office accepts cash, checks and money orders.

Also accepted are credit and debit cards, which will have a service fee applied.

Mailed payments must be postmarked on or before Feb. 15 to avoid penalties.

“Providing several payment methods and additional hours for collection are just a couple of ways I am making the Clerk’s Office user-friendly. It gives our residents an opportunity to pay their taxes outside of traditional methods and office hours,” Jaeger said.

Additionally, the Clerk’s Office will be open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, with extended hours next week.

The office will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 14, and Thursday, Feb. 15.

The Town Clerk’s Office is located in the Amherst Municipal Building, 5583 Main St., Williamsville.
