UNIVERSITY AT BUFFALO ATHLETICS


BUFFALO — University at Buffalo punter Kyle DeWeen has been selected to play in the SPIRAL Tropical Bowl – a premier FBS Division I level All-Star Game played in Daytona Beach, FL on January 14.

DeWeen, who just concluded his career at Buffalo, finished as the school record holder for career punt average, averaging 40.1 yards per punt over his two seasons with the Bulls. The Niagara Falls native ranks seventh in school history in punt yardage with 5,139 yards. A business administration major, DeWeen was also selected to the 2017 Academic All-MAC Team.

DeWeen is the second UB player selected to play in the Tropical Bowl. Former quarterback Joe Licata played in, and was the MVP, of the inaugural 2016 game.

The SPIRAL Tropical Bowl showcases the top college football seniors to NFL scouts and GM’s who travel from around the country to the event. The weekend is focused on scouting, teaching and football.  The Inaugural 2016 game was held at FIU/FIU North Stadium and the 2017 SPIRAL Tropical Bowl in cooperation with the City of Daytona Beach moved to Daytona Beach Municipal Stadium in Daytona Beach, FL and has since returned.
