PORTLAND — A 41-year-old corrections officer from Silver Creek as charged on Tuesday with third-degree rape and several counts of official misconduct.
According to New York State Police, James W. Beam Jr. was charged following an investigation into an unlawful personal relationship with an inmate while employed as a Correction Officer at Lakeview Shock Incarceration Correctional Facility.
Beam was issued an appearance ticket at the direction of the Chautauqua County District Attorney’s Office and is to appear at the town of Portland court in January 2018.
This case was a joint investigation by the New York State Police and the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision Office of Special Investigations.
