STAFF REPORTS

Gas prices locally — as well as across the country — are essentially unchanged from a week ago, according to AAA of Western and Central New York.

The only change across the board is a one-cent uptick in Buffalo to $2.39 per gallon. In Rochester, the price remains $2.42, while across the state the price is once again $2.48. Nationally, the average is $2.35 per gallon, also identical to last week’s price.

With increases predicted through the rest of August, consumers will be happy to see the steady gas prices this week. Demand will likely start to decline as families get ready for back to school. Refineries are about a month away from the winter blend release date, when consumers can expect the cheaper blend of gasoline.
