ATTICA — A 21-year-old former inmate at Attica Correctional Facility was charged Wednesday with second-degree attempted murder, first-degree assault, third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, and first-degree promoting prison contraband — all felonies.

According to New York State Police, inmate Dominick F. Coffer, currently housed at Southport CF, in Pine City was arrested pursuant to his edged weapon attack on another Inmate that occurred on April 22, within the confines of the Attica Correctional Facility.

The inmate victim suffered numerous stab wounds and was then hospitalized for multiple injuries, to include a right side hemopneumothorax with a pigtail placement.

Coffer was arraigned in Wyoming County Court by Judge Michael M. Mohun and then returned to the custody and control of NYSDOCCS. He will reappear in Wyoming County Court on a later date.

Coffer is already serving a sentence for second-degree criminal possession of a weapon out of Dutchess County.
