The Bisons scored just one run as they lose 2-1 to Syracuse, extending their losing streak to nine games Friday night at NBT Bank Stadium.

Irving Falu came through again for the Chiefs. In the seventh inning of a tie game, He stepped to the plate and provided the go-ahead run with a homer off the top of the wall. Falu was last night’s hero with a walk-off homerun in the ninth. The long ball was his fifth of the season.

Both teams got strong outings from their starters. Bisons starter Mike Bolsinger allowed seven hits without recording a single strikeout, but yielded only one run. Chiefs starter Jaron Long fooled Buffalo batters throughout the game striking out seven and holding the Herd to just one run while earning the win. His record improved to 1-1 on the season

The Bisons lone run came in the second inning. Raffy Lopez reached with a double to right field. With two outs, Shane Opitz drove in the run with a single down the third base line giving the Herd a 1-0 lead in the second.

The loss marks nine in a row for the Bisons and they have dropped 16 of the last 19. The Herd will look to put the losing streak behind them Saturday night in the third of a four game set against the Chiefs. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.


Bisons Notes: Raffy Lopez was 3-4 with a pair of doubles and a run scored… Shane Opitz was 1-3 with a RBI… The Bisons did not record a single strikeout until the eighth inning and it was their only strikeout of the game.
