PRESS RELEASE

State Senator Rob Ortt, R -North Tonawanda, today issued the following statement regarding the decision to  increase the outflow of the Moses-Sunders dam to lower Lake Ontario levels.

“Lakeshore residents, business owners, farmers and local governments have remained patient and steadfast during this whole ordeal. While high lake levels – caused by the ill-conceived Plan 2014 – continue to wreak havoc on their homes, their livelihood and their properties, it is not breaking their spirit or will to give up. I will continue to do everything in my power to help those affected by this man-made disaster. Aside from securing critical funding to help our communities rebuild, I’ve recently introduced a bill that would provide a tax credit to individuals who have invested in break walls and other ways to shore up and better protect their properties. I applaud today’s decision by the IJC, but like the impacted property owners, I will not give up on my promise. I will continue to work with elected representatives at all levels to put a plug in this bureaucratic, unprecedented disaster.”
