The International League today announced that Buffalo Bisons Infielder Jason Leblebijian has been named the league’s Batter of the Week for the period of May 29-June 4.
Leblebijian, the current leader among IL third baseman in Triple-A All-Star online fan voting, paced the circuit over the past seven days with a .481 batting average, 13 hits, 22 total bases and eight runs scored. He started his week with a bang on Memorial Day, homering twice as part of a four-hit, four-RBI afternoon in Charlotte. Before the week ended, he produced three more multi-hit games, including three hits Sunday to help the Bisons complete a three-game sweep of the Knights at Coca-Cola Field.
For the season, Leblebijian ranks in the Top 5 in the International League with a .318 batting average (2nd), a .391 on-base percentage (4th), and a .534 slugging percentage (4th). He also leads the Bisons and is tied for 6th in the IL with 36 RBI.
