BUFFALO — A federal grand jury has returned an indictment charging Shawn Woods, 25, of Buffalo, NY, with possession with intent to distribute fentanyl, butyryl fentanyl, furanyl fentanuyl, and heroin; maintaining a drug involved premises; and possession of a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking activity. The charges carry a mandatory minimum penalty of 10 years in prison, a maximum of 40 years, and a $5,000,000 fine.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Paul C. Parisi, who is handling the case, stated that according to the indictment, on February 1, 2017, the defendant possessed large quantities of fentanyl, butyryl fentanyl, furanyl fentanuyl, and heroin, which were intended for distribution in the Buffalo area.

Woods was arraigned this afternoon before U.S. Magistrate Judge H. Kenneth Schroeder and is being detained.
