Duane C. Mietlicki, 64, of the Town of Niagara, NY, passed from this life into the arms of Jesus on Monday, May 22, 2017.  Born on July 2, 1952 in Niagara Falls, NY, Duane was the son of the late Edward and Elizabeth (Lingenfelter) Mietlicki.

Mr. Mietlicki was a lifelong area resident. Duane attended local schools and graduated from Niagara Wheatfield High School.  He proudly served in the United States Navy, during the Vietnam War, aboard the USS Fiske, until he was honorably discharged in 1975.  On October 23, 1976, Mr. Mietlicki married the former Yvonne Guilliams.  For thirty-four years, Duane was employed as a millwright at Occidental Corporation.

As an attendee  of Destiny Christian Church, Duane was a Faithful Servant who loved God.  He was known for his generous heart, a man you could count on.  His friendly and caring spirit shined in all he did.  Duane loved to travel and spend time with family and friends.  He took pride in his ’67 Barracuda and was an avid sports fan.  Duane could always be counted on when there was a need.

Mr. Mietlicki was a beloved husband of 40 years to Yvonne (Guilliams) Mietlicki; loving father to Melissa Mietlicki and Kevin Mietlicki; brother to Sheila (Phil) Trane, Katherine (Greg Zayatz) Pouthier, David (Beverly) Mietlicki, Keith Mietlicki, Clara (Randy) Heina and Helen Tickett.  Duane is also survived by many nieces and nephews and the Dearborn family, who was close to his heart, Craig, Terra, and Sam, Gracie, Jonah and Lazarus who all knew him as “Grandpa D”.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Edward Mietlicki.

The family will gather to receive friends on Saturday, May 27th from 3-5 p.m. in Destiny Christian Church, 905 College Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY, where a funeral service will follow visitation at 5:00 p.m. with Rev. Lou Perez officiating.  Navy Military Honors will conclude Duane’s funeral service.  Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of OTTO REDANZ FUNERAL HOME, in the Town of Niagara.

In lieu of flowers, for those who wish to honor Duane in the form of a contribution, are asked to consider Cancer Treatment Centers of America or Destiny Christian Church.
