The Toronto Blue Jays today announced that they have signed C/DH Jarrod Saltalamacchia to a minor league contract. He will report to the Buffalo Bisons.
Saltalamacchia, 32, has played for seven different major league clubs over his 11-year professional career, hitting for an average of .233 with 110 home runs and 381 runs batted in. A first-round selection by the Atlanta Braves in 2003, Saltalamacchia made his major league debut at the age of 22. He also won a World Series in 2013 with the Boston Red Sox, a season where he ranked sixth in the American League with 40 doubles.
Saltalamacchia started the year with the Blue Jays appearing in 10 games before being released on May 3.
