This week’s feature event is the Justin Mauk Memorial Benefit on Saturday at at Rosemellias Burt Hotel.

Justin James Mauk passed away on May 19, 2016 at the young age of 30. A native of Newfane, his passions were writing, philosophy, music, and his love for Ariadne Sophia, his seven-week old baby girl. Justin could never decline a good debate as he was on the Dean’s List during his college years, and his days of activism and poetry readings at his favorite coffee shop will forever be remembered. But, he was also a victim of the long lasting disease Multiple Sclerosis which can affect your brain, spinal cord, the optic nerves in your eyes, and more.

The Justin Mauk Memorial to Benefit MS Sucks is coming up May 20 as the one year anniversary of Justin’s passing comes around. An annual benefit has been organized to help others who have MS or have loved ones with MS. Turning a painful day into a day of kindness and generosity is what his parents envision as a perfect honor to his beautiful life. Live performances from Steelhorse, DAGON, Mindy Davey, Julian Burgio, Nuke Fun, The Good Neighbors, and The JT Blues Band will grace the airwaves throughout the day.

Calhoon’s Pub is donating mac-n-cheese and coleslaw. Dagon, the chef and his girlfriend are donating chicken alfredo. Rosemellia’s Burt Hotel is donating hot dogs, burgers, condiments, and paper supplies. Cafora’s is donating baked ziti. Brookside Banquets is donating meatballs, broccoli salad and cupcakes. Hilltop Restaurant is donating smoked wings and a variety of others will be bringing more food and raffle items to enjoy until your heart is content.

Baskets and donations can be dropped off at Rosemellias Burt Hotel 2083 Lockport -Olcott Road Burt, N.Y. 14028 anytime during business hours, which is also where the benefit show will be held. All funds received will be donated to the local MS charity.
