UNIVERSITY AT BUFFALO ATHLETICS
KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The University at Buffalo track and field team had an outstanding appearance at the 2017 Outdoor Mid-American Conference Championships. Several Bulls found their way to the podium, and the men finished third overall, while the women finished ninth overall.
The Bulls had first place finishes in four events: 400 Hurdles, 800m, 110 Hurdles, and 4X400 relay. Mitchell Moore found his way to the podium in the 400 Hurdles, clocking in at 52.76, over two seconds faster than second place. Joining him on the podium was teammate Treyvon Mask. Mask placed fourth overall with a time of 55.69, his first time scoring individually at MACs. Tyler Scheving placed first in the 800m with a time of 1:52.33. Right behind him was teammate Brian Crimmins. Crimmins took home the silver with a time of 1:52.76. The gold in the 110 hurdles went to senior Ryan Billian. Billian clocked in at 14.11 for first place. Teammate Christian Doherty found his way to the podium in the 110 hurdles with a fourth place finish, clocking in at 14.46. The men’s 4X400 relay team of Gyasi Morris, Joshua Gali, Brian Cummiskey, and Mitchell Moore took home the gold with a time of 3:12.49.
Seven silver medals were awarded to the Bulls on day three. Joshua Gali won two individual silvers and was a member of the second place 4X100 relay team. Gali proved to be a dominant sprinter in the Mid-American Conference after earning the silver in the 200m and 400m. He clocked in at 21.01 in the 200m, just .01 seconds behind first place. Gali’s time of 47.16 in the 400m earned him a silver as well. Gali was also a member of the silver-winning 4X100 relay team. Alongside teammates Brian Cummiskey, Mitchell Fuller, and Ryan Billian, the team was able to clock in at 40.55 for second place. Cummiskey earned himself an individual second place finish in the 100m, clocking in at 10.38, a new personal best.
Selina Von Jackowski and Miranda Daucher took home the other two silver medals for the Bulls. Von Jackowski clocked in at 13.52 for second place in the 100HH. Not far behind her was teammate Christine Lyttle. Lyttle clocked in at 13.73 (13.728) for fifth place, just .005 seconds behind fourth. Daucher threw for a distance of 52.22m in the discus throw for second, beating out third by nearly three meters.
