BUFFALO STATE ATHLETICS


The Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) revealed its All-Region teams today and named Buffalo State’s Alanna Herne (Tonawanda/Tonawanda) and Cassie Saint-Vil (Middletown/Middletown) to the Empire Region second team.
 
Both players were also named first team All-SUNYAC earlier this week.
 
Herne, a junior communication major, led the SUNYAC in scoring with 82 points, including 33 goals and 49 assists in just 15 games.  She climbed to third in school history with 274 career points on 138 goals and 113 assists in 59 career games. Herne missed the final game of the regular season and the playoff game due to injury.  This marks the third-consecutive season she was named All-Empire Region second team.
 
Saint-Vil, a senior defender/midfielder is an individualized studies major, and a first-time All-Region honoree.  She tallied 14 goals and 22 points in 17 games, and led the Bengals with 66 draw controls, 56 ground balls and 28 caused turnovers.  She finishes her career as the school’s all-time leader in ground balls (141) and caused turnovers (90), and ranks second in draw controls (171).
 
Buffalo State finished the season 6-11 overall and secured the No. 6 seed in the SUNYAC playoffs with a 3-5 mark in league play.  The Bengals season came to an end in the conference quarterfinals at No. 3 Geneseo.
